Dorothy Wise purchased the Glenwood Equestrian Center in
2001 with the goal of creating a first-class equestrian facility providing the highest quality training and
riding instruction in a safe, fun, and attractive environment.
Dorothy started riding at the age of seven and, while earning her Computer Science degree at
Princeton University, rode on their intercollegiate team. She worked at NBI as a programmer/manager
in Boulder, CO and owned a horse with whom she competed in Eventing, until the birth of her fi rst
child. In 1991, she moved to California, where she worked at Borland
|
in Scotts Valley, then Novell. When
the opportunity came to work at startup Agile Software, she jumped at the chance, retiring in 2000 with
the birth of her third child. Upon purchasing this current property, she returned to her love of horses
and started riding again.
During the last seven years, the Glenwood Equestrian Center has been completely renovated. In
2002, based on the type and number of improvements made, Ecology Action, an organization focused on
designing and implementing waste reduction and pollution prevention programs throughout Santa
Cruz County, selected Glenwood Equestrian Center a best practices demonstration site for other horse
property owners in the county.
The Glenwood Equestrian Center consistently receives compliments on its cleanliness and friendly
atmosphere. With trainers Jiji Mellon and Dee White, the Center is well on its way to achieving its
goal of becoming a premier competitive training facility in the Santa Cruz area for dressage,
jumping and eventing. For more information call 831.438.8432 or visit 1751 Glenwood Dr., Scotts

In addition to her love of horses and the natural environment, Dorothy has been a strong supporter
of the Symphony since she moved to the area in 1991. Dorothy was on the Symphony Board for fi ve
years holding various positions, including Board President in 1995-96. During the last 15 years, she
has been a stalwart sponsor of the symphony, including soloists, concerts and the season. Thanks to
Dorothy for supporting excellence in both riding and music in Santa Cruz County!
